"Algériennes" ("Women of the algerian war")

Exploring the Algerian war of liberation through the testimony of three women, two Algerian and one French, who fought for the Algerian National Liberation Front. Through photographs and first-person accounts, Djamel Sellani creates in his directorial debut a sincere, precise picture of the horrors of that war and of how these women live today.

Djamel Sellani was born in 1970 in Lille, France. He studied at the Film and Television Department of Swinburne Institute in Melbourne, Australia, and in 1996 founded the documentary production company Les Films du Cyclope. As a producer, his credits include Island of the Damned and The Bright Darkness.
